A poem written after days of listening to the wrong voice…

Getting to be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do with your life sounds like freedom. But endless opportunity can be its own kind of slavery.

It’s the age old question: Do we really want to do whatever we want? Or do we want to be entrusted?

Some people hear God’s voice on the reg. He tells them what color shirt to wear in the morning and whether to turn left or right at a stoplight. Me? I hear God through clouds.

Our lives are full… filled to the brim and overflowing with daily tasks, responsibilities, entertainment, and noise. We wear busyness like a badge and find our worth in how productive we can be.

We all seem to be living bound up in one way or another. For some of us it is very obvious…

Just like pro surfer Bethany Hamilton says about surfing waves, you have to “look where you want to go,” we have to do that as followers of Jesus.

And my life was instantly better…
